Warning. The trails frequently become a sloshy mess when the weather is wet. Wet or dry, though, Japanese Gulch is worth the visit!

Great in summer. Super muddy in fall - winter- early spring

Good dog park, lots of friendly people and dogs. A trail to walk on but there is no water source.

This is a great place to train your dog how to run an obstical course for show dogs. They recommend that your dog be two years to do the course. You MUST bring your own water! There's no water or bowls on site.

Excellent dog park to let your dogs off leash with plenty of room to run.

But Tails and Trails is more than a dog park; it also is the northern trail head for Japanese Gulch. (The southern trail head offers the large parking lot.)

Great park to go on an easy hike while enjoying some fun views. There is a beautiful stream, little waterfalls, railroad, and dog park.

Japanese Gulch is ribboned with many twisting and fun trails, none of which unfortunately are well-signed; this lack of signs makes it too easy to stray from the main Loop hike. Still, the entire Gulch is drop dead gorgeous so whether you achieve your hike's mission or merely meander, you will stop often in awe of the beauty that surrounds you.
